User Ratings and Reviews
5 Stars Great Book!
This book gives you insight to questions you wouldn’t have thought of. A great way to beat being left high and dry in an interview chair wishing you had thought of an answer before hand.
2 Stars Good for an entry level only…
This book is good for a quick read and entry level. If you are a professional that has worked for any number of years, this book is probably too elementary for you. However, this book quickly outlines key questions for the beginner.
1 Star Waste of money
It’s not so much the questions that are the problem, but rather the suggested answers. Most are laughable, and no sensible person would ever use them (if they really wanted the job, that is). This book is a joke……I would never recommend it to anyone.
5 Stars Great book for appropriate person.
I use this book with my clients who are in year 1 through 5 of their career management strategy, or with any entry to just-above-entry level career person who simply has not interviewed much.
Although one previous reviewer attempts to discredit the book by citing a few under par examples, many of the questions reflect true interview situation questions and many of the answers are helpful to those unskilled in interviewing techniques.
The book operates like flash cards that you can tear apart. My recommended approach to using it is to tear out 10 – 20 questions you want to answer expecially well, try using their answers or your own in mock interview situations with friends and associates, and use this as the tool it is meant to be used: One that promotes interview practice and thoughtful reflection.
I wholeheartedly validate the experience of those who have found this book invaluable. Many people do.
1 Star Don’t Waste your money
Clearly the positive reviews that this book has received have been posted by whomever is profiting by selling this horrible interview book. The book can easily be read in 20 minutes and offers absolutely no help to someone interviewing for a serious job. It offers many predictable interview questions and offers one-sentence “no-brainer” answers to these questions. A couple of random examples from the book are: QUESTION: “Shall I make you an offer?” ANSWER: “I Would appreciate it very much!.” QUESTION: “How do you think your subordinates perceive you?” ANSWER: “They like me, I think.” Wow those answers will really impress the interviewer!!!! (Sarcasm intended) After reading the book it seems as though the author put this book together in a day or two with the intention of making a quick buck at the expense of others rather to help others master the art of the interview. The book has gone straight into my trash can as I would feel bad re-selling this book to anyone else. I gave the book one star only because I was unable to give it none. Don’t waste your money on this book.
