  • Some 20 years after it was exposed as a hoax, the James Madison “quote” claiming the U.S. was founded on the Ten Commandments is recycled in this book. That was a tipoff that research behind the tales in it is sub-par.

The book is chock-full of revisionist history, attempts to rewrite the founding of our nation to erase the First Amendment and religious freedom.

This book should be contrasted with Ralph Ketcham’s excellent biography of James Madison, which presents a more rounded and complete, and accurate, picture of our most devoutly Christian founder — who also was the strongest advocate of complete separation of church and state as a means of preserving religious liberty. Or, it could be contrasted with Thomas Jefferson’s Notes on the State of Virginia, available from the Modern Library and other sources. The stories Chad Connelly tells about Madison and Jefferson are almost completely at odds with events as Madison and Jefferson wrote about them.

An author owes his reader a duty to accuracy. Mr. Connelly has shirked that duty.

  • I find it amazing that Chad Connelly, whom I have known since he was in high school would have the guts to write a book which screams about our “freedoms” being eroded when he belongs to every right wing group which seeks to limit our civil liberties and civil rights in the state of South Carolina.

    Stay away from this drivel.

  • His ideas, though thought provoking are hardly different then most other ‘revolutionary’ writers. You can chose for yourself if you agree with his views. But just thumbing through it you get a refreshing dose of self-absorbed, rightous frenzies, cash cow grinding Covey wanna be that it makes for a lovely read. I don’t think I can explain it well enough. Buy this used if you can, it goes ‘over the heads’ of many readers. Reading books about how bad we have screwed up our country is always interesting, however finding this one gives you a good ‘front and square’ personality disorder. Mind that you don’t lose your mind while reading his book. Remember, if his advice was really that good, he’d tell ya for free. ;)

  • I also have know Chad Connelly since high school and college. Alot of the stuff he mentions in his book he gets paid to preach the same information on a speaking circuit that amyway provides. Although Amyway has now changed its name. Come to his hometown and find out all the people he scamed there.
